Abstract | This file contains the estimation of land inundation due to sea-level rise (see slr indicator) for the time periods of 2020-2050 and 2070-2100 under RCP85. The slr value used was restricted to the ensemble mean under RCP85. Under RCP26 and RCP 45 the slr values obtained for the European coastline are relatively low and below the vertical resolution chosen for this analysis (i.e. 0.5m). Finally, it is important to note that this approach disregards the effect of artificial flood barriers such as dikes and sea walls. |
Dataquality information | source_data_id: multi-mixed-rcp85 source_data_id_comment: Data on sea-level change used was the same for the IPCC AR5 report (2014) and obtained from ftp://ftp.icdc.zmaw.de/ar5_sea_level_rise/. The original data on ssl can be accessed via: http://data.europa.eu/89h/0026aa70-cc6d-4f6f-8c2f-554a2f9b17f2. The digital elevation models used was provided by DG Enterprise and Industry 2013 and can be downloaded from here: http://www.eea.europa.eu/data-and-maps/data/ds_resolveuid/ca503256de1b4231b029e4145d0a8b7b. The flooding algorithm employed is described in Bootle 2011 available here: http://www.nat-hazards-earth-syst-sci.net/11/3327/2011/nhess-11-3327-2011.pdf. |
